I will be taking a brief break from blogging. My grandfather was admitted to the hospital yesterday after suffering a mild stroke. Right now I will need to focus my energy and time towards helping my grandparents. Both of them are in their eighties and live with us. Thank you for your understanding.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, Racquel. I know just what you are going through–my father had a mild stroke on Friday, and I’m taking just a few minutes of down time before getting ready to go back to the hospital to see him. Fortunately, he seems to be doing well, but he is 83, and one never knows. I will be thinking of you and hoping for the best, too.

I’m sorry about your grandfather’s illness. Strokes are one of the most frustrating maladies for the patient (and nearly as frustrating for the caregiver). I hope he makes a speedy recovery and that you at least find time to spend in your garden. Don’t worry about your blog, we’ll all still be here whenever you decide to come back.

Your family’s health is way more important than blogging. I hope your grandfather feels better soon!

Thank you everyone for your good thoughts & prayers for my grandfather. I was overwhelmed with the outpouring of nice comments from all of you. We spent half of the day at the hospital today. He is still quite weak from the stroke. They will be keeping him for at least a couple more days to run some tests and observe him.

Take your time, grandparents are much more important than blogging! I wish I still had mine around to take care of. We’re down to only one mom for each of us. Enjoy the time you have with them while you still have it. My grandpa had several mild strokes which he was able to recover from. I hope the same is true for you.

This is such a long and stressful process. My mom lived with me for about 18 years. She had 50 strokes in that time. Some were small and some left her speechless and paralyzed. I’m glad to hear your grandfather is home and NOT DRIVING! Glad he didn’t have the stroke while out on the road.
Yes it is but he is home now and doing well. He had a major stroke about 9 years ago that was pretty bad & he had to have rehabilitation to learn how to walk, talk etc…This one was pretty mild in comparison. I’m glad he isn’t driving anymore too. Hopefully with the Dr telling him that it will sink in better than when we tried to tell him the same thing a few months ago. 18 years? Bless your heart, you really do understand how overwhelming the process can be at times then.
