February Blooms (GBBD 2009)

Crocus

Crocus

The first harbingers of spring have started blooming in my garden this weekend.  Just in time for Garden Blogger’s Bloom Day!   Crocus come in shades of white, yellow and purple.   Every fall I try to plant these tiny corms in areas where they will be noticed.  You have to squat down to enjoy their goblet-shaped blossoms.  I’m still waiting for the deep purples ones that I planted out front this fall to bloom.  The foliage is emerging so it will be a couple of weeks or so before they bloom.

Pansies

Pansies

The fall pansies are still holding on, though a bit battered from the cold spell we had in January.  They are starting to perk back up now and will continue to put out blooms through May.  These are the little bits of color in my garden at the moment.   Oh and I have one lonely Paperwhite bloom  indoors.  To see more GBBD posts or to join in this week please visit Carol at May Dreams Gardens.
