Fall Chores

Here’s some things I really need to get accomplished this month before the cold hand of winter touches down:

  • Plant Daffodil bulbs and replace summer annuals with Pansies (done)
  • Rake leaves as they fall into the beds as a winter mulch
  • Put some of the leaves into my compost bins
  • Finish cleaning out veggie beds (done)
  • Store the garden decor in shed
  • Turn over birdbaths (done) & remove pumps from fountains
  • Scatter more grass seed in lawn
  • Clean and store garden tools
  • Put fresh mulch down in front beds
  • Stock up on birdseed
  • Cut back Peony foliage (done)

Once all this is done I’m going to enjoy getting some stuff done indoors for awhile and then before long I’ll be looking through garden magazines dreaming of next spring.  🙂

Working on my garden chore list too…..I’m a tad bit excited about being tucked in for a few weeks this winter….sure need to dust!

  2. Hey it’s so nice to hear we are doing the same things in our gardens. That peony foliage is such a good thing to get rid of first. Good luck getting the raking done! A big job for sure.

    • Yep I usually cut that back first. It’s just begun falling so it will be a weekly process raking the leaves. Thanks Tina. 🙂

    • Thank you for sharing real life images of people just like us that we don’t often get to see or hear. I appreciated your thunhgt-provokiog questions that are easier not to think about because then we don’t have to do anything.

  3. A good list of chores. Hope the weather holds. Rainy here today.

I am totally behind in my garden since I’m now over 2 weeks with this cold (or flu). I went out yesterday to the lemur center and it just about did me in. I’m so tired.

    • Thanks Freda, I got alot done on Thursday but still have stuff to do. Sorry to hear that you’ve been under the weather for the past 2 weeks, hope you feel better soon.

I should make a list of “To Do’s” but I usually just wing it. Then there is something I forgot and then have to jump to it before the cold sets in. The water hose need to be drained well and stored soon as our nights are getting cooler…

Love the pic of the birds 🙂

    • I know what you mean skeeter, sometimes the weather here makes me drop through hoops up to the last minute trying to get my list done. Thanks! 🙂

Mivel a világ minden pontjáról nézik a gólyák mindennapjait, szerintem megérne ennyit, hogy ott lobogjon hazánk szép zÃÃ.elajas.K¡¶szönettzl : B. Károly Budakalászról. (Várom a reagálást)

  5. Made me tired just reading the chores ahead…….. I have to finish the bird bath, cut back a bit more on plants and cover patio tables..

    • It is tiring at this time of the year trying to prepare the garden for winter Rosemary, but at least we’ll get a nice break before spring. 🙂

  6. LOVE this pic of the birds at the birdhouse Raquel. Makes me think of spring instead of fall!
I’ve done a lot of the same chores you have on your list except I put a heater in the birdbath instead of turning it over. I’m amazed how much it gets used in winter since I’ve started keeping it open.
I have lots to do indoors too. I don’t think anything will happen now tho until after the holidays…

    • Good idea Kathleen, I’ve been considering getting a heater for at least one of mine as well. I’m sure the birds are appreciative too. 🙂
