Bloomin Tuesday

The garden is really putting on a show this month with things constantly coming into bloom as others slowly fade away.  Some of my favorite perennials are blooming this week which include this unknown white Astilbe, Coreopsis ‘Jethro Tull’ and Verbena Bonariensis.  Salvia ‘Mystic Spires’ has just begun to push out a few spikes of flowers which will continue through the first hard frost in fall.  The Alliums are still looking good with ‘Pink Jewel’ finally starting to open up its buds into tiny pink stars and Christophii with its purple iridescent stars.  Catmint or Nepeta ‘Walker’s Low’ is two years old now and is has formed into a nice mound of blossoms which will look striking combined with companions ‘Glowing Peace’ Rose and Echinacea ‘Sundown’ which are shades of orange (not currently blooming yet). Last but not least is my new addition Polemonium ‘Heavenly Habit’, I just adore flowers in shades of blue don’t you?  The common name is Jacob’s Ladder in reference to the leaves being parallel on the stems like rungs of a ladder.
