(From upper L-R across: Summer Hyacinth, Hydrangea 'Limelight', Scaevola, Fairy Lily, and Giant White Hyssop)
Today I thought I would share the current white blooms in my garden. Galtonia candicans (Summer Hyacinth) and Zephyranthes candida (Fairy Lily) were new bulb additions to the Hydrangea bed this past spring. As you can see ‘Limelight’ is in full glory at the moment. It just begs for attention everytime I walk outside. The white Scaevola was added to the ceramic wall planters I found at Big Lot’s last fall. Hopefully I’ll get the shed painted this fall and then these accents will really pop. Look at the Giant Hyssop, that’s the top of my 6′ privacy fence behind it! The flowers all glow in your garden Racquel. Your Limelight is awesome. It must be most happy as are all your blooms. White never looked better.

The flowers you selected are in shades of white – beautiful blooms as pure as snow.

I wish my Fairy Lilly (I call them Rain Lillies) would bloom. They all bloomed in late spring, but have dried to nothing the last couple of months. Maybe with the small amount of rain we just received, they’ll come back. Does the Summer Hyacinth have that familiar Hyacinth fragrance?

We’ve been getting small afternoon showers this week which has prompted a bloom or two. I hope yours respond in the same way after your small rainfall. Nope no scent and the blooms remind me more of the spring Snowdrops but on a much larger scale. 🙂

Beautiful white flowers. That last flower, the Giant White Hyssop, certainly earns its name doesn’t it?

Love your white! Funny how we tend to forget how showy white can be. I use so much yellow and red, I am one of those I’m afraid. I planted white profusion zinnas in with the yellow and orange and it just pops! Great pictures Racquel!
Thanks Linda. I’m loving the white so much I want to add more punches throughout the yard next year. Plus it’s neutral so it goes with everything. I bet your White profusion zinnias look great with the yellow & orange ones. 🙂

Racquel … I love the all white theme and wow on “Limelight” !!
I do have to say that Quick Fire is amazing with such early flowers for me though .. all the rest are coming up to speed .. Little Lamb is bloated ? with flowers : )

I ended up with more white blooms than I had intended this summer, but I’m enjoying the luminous white and dark green foliage very much! Your white blooms are beautiful, Racquel.

Racquel — do you have a “moon garden” with all those whites? I’ll bet your white blooms glow in the dark! I’ve still not found a white agastache around here, but had to move the ‘purple haze’ from my cottage garden out to the butterfly garden as they were hovering around 5 feet high. I’ll have to pinch those back in the spring next year to limit the height.

No, but I wish I did. 🙂 The Limelight blossoms literally glow in the dusk & early evening hours. I’ll have to keep that in mine for my Giant Hyssop next year too (pinching it back).

My Limelight is SOOOO close to blooming! Thanks so much for posting your pics of it, it makes my mouth salivate. LOL! I’m also a huge lover of white. What other kinds do you have planted that aren’t necessarily blooming right now? I planted the Crazy Daisy and it is…crazy huge.
How exciting Heather, I know you just can’t wait for it to bloom now that you’ve seen mine in all its’ glory. 🙂 I also have some White Cosmos, Shasta Daisies, Buddleia and Angelonia blooming at the moment too. Then there are the past white blooms of Alliums, Viburnums, Hostas and Sweet Woodruff. Oh the Crazy Daisy is a unique bloom huh? 😉

Racquel, your whites are lovely and with the heat look cool and inviting. The summer hyacinth is really unusual, but pretty, and Limelight seems to be out doing it’s self this year. After seeing your whites, I realize I have very little except in containers. Maybe I need to think about adding some to my gardens.
That’s what I think too Beckie (the cooling effect in this heat). Yep Limelight does seem to get better & better every year. 🙂 Don’t think you would regret adding more of this simple color to your garden.
