New Additions

(From L-R: Lavender 'Anouk', Asiatic Lily 'Tango Ladylike' and Peruvian Daffodil)

Yesterday while at Lowes I picked up my first plant purchases of 2011.   This is a french Lavender that is highly fragrant, compact in size and heat/humidity tolerant according to the tag.  I had to buy two of them for some reason.  Don’t ask me why, lol.  This Asiatic Lily caught my eye too, probably because the colors looked pretty striking in the photo.  Last fall I added 5 or 6 new Asiatics, so I’m a bit excited to see them all start blooming.   The Daffodils were a nice find too.  I don’t think you can ever go wrong with bulbs, they are so easy to grow.  Now to find new homes for these beauties.  Hope everyone has a good weekend in and out of the garden! 🙂

  1. Great new additions. I have the Peruvian daffodils. They work well in a flower pot and bloom like crazy but they are not hardy here. Very cool though so I keep them around. You got a good price on them. Have fun planting.

Thanks Tina for that info. I will keep that in mind. Their hardy in my zone according to the tag so I’m going to take a chance and see. 🙂

  4. Don’t you just love it–we can go to garden centers now and buy!!! Love the lavender. Hope it does well for us–let me know as I would love to try it….again. 🙂
Have a great weekend Racquel. I am off to Lowes myself today! Yea spring!!

Yep I was so pleased to see all the great stuff they had set out already. Thanks Linda, I’ll keep you updated on the Lavender. I have a ‘Hicote’ that has survived two seasons in my garden so far. It’s all about well draining soil I think. Have fun at Lowe’s! 🙂

  5. Wonderful selections. I love lavender, but really have had no luck with growing it. I hope you’re successful with it. Have a great weekend. Balisha

Thanks Balisha. Me too, I have a ‘Hicote’ that has survived 2 seasons so far so I’m hoping these do as well. Have a great weekend! 🙂

  9. Oooh, I am so envious, Raquel! Three warm days in a row here have found me cleaning up garden beds and anxious to start buying some new plants. But it’s still very early for us, so the only thing I’ve seen in the garden centers is pansies. I think you made some great choices–lavender is on my list to plant this year, too.

I’m sure you’ll be out plant shopping before you know it Rose. 🙂 Yay for warm days! Glad you were able to get out and some much needed spring cleaning. I’ve already done all the beds once, but a few will need a second cleaning to keep those weeds at bay until I can mulch. Thanks, I think Lavender is a great choice for everyone’s garden.
